Bibb Schools to Consider 11-Month Calendar | Families
Bibb County's school board is scheduled to consider next year's school calendar on Thursday, which moves another step closer toward year-round school.
If the school board approves, classes would start up July 25 and stay in session through mid-June, 2014.
The number of school days would not change.
But students and teachers would have one- or two-week breaks in October, November, around the Christmas-New Year holidays and then in March and April.
Superintendent Romain Dallemand has said schools can improve learning by going to year-round calendars.
One school board is already raising some questions.
School board Lynn Farmer says she's not opposed to year-round school, but says starting this summer may be too soon.
She said families, businesses and the community need time to prepare.
The board is not expected to vote on the calendar Thursday.
