Georgia's First "Pints for Prostates" Event Comes to Macon

Georgia's First "Pints for Prostates" Event Comes to Macon

The Downtown Macon Rotary is hosting the Pints for Prostates event to reach men through the universal language of beer with an important health message.

The event at the Armory Ball Room will feature beer sampling, music from the Grapevine band and a free PSA (prostate specific antigen) blood test to screen men for prostate cancer. Early detection is the key to fighting prostate cancer, which one in six American men will face in their lifetimes. America's leading prostate health organizations recommend that men begin regular prostate cancer screenings at age 40. For men in high risk groups, including African American men and those with a family history of prostate cancer, testing should begin at 35 years-old.

Tickets for the event are $25 and include a free PSA blood test for men.

The event will be held on March 11, 2011 at 7:00pm.
