Coliseum Health System Appoints Three New Board Members

Coliseum Health System has appointed three new board members to the Board of Trustees. 

Patrice Webster, MD, Chief of Staff for Coliseum Center for Behavioral Health, Jeffrey Burnette, MD, Chief of Staff for Coliseum Northside Hospital, and Jimmy Hinson, Vice President of Employee Benefits with BB&T Insurance Services, Inc, have recently been appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees, a Coliseum Health System news release says. 

The Board of Trustees is established to assist and advise the CEO, the Limited Liability Company, The Board of Directors and the Medical Staff.

The Board of Trustees is composed of sixteen individuals representing the community at large, the active medical staff and the hospital leadership. 

Their primary function is to assure that the hospital and its medical staff provides quality medical care that meets the needs of the community. 

February Marks American Heart Month

The Medical Center of Georgia plans to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and stroke through a series of events throughout February.

The events correspond with the American Heart Association's designated February as American Heart Month.

That's according to a Medical Center of Central Ga. news release.

The following is a schedule of events for Central Ga.:

Saturday: Heart & Soul North will take place at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1530 Highway 41 South, in Barnesville from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. MCCG will provide AngioScreen® and other cardiovascular screenings, and physician speakers on the hour.  

AngioScreen® costs $50. Please call 1-800-627-2393 to make an appointment.

Thursday, Feb. 17: HeartFest 2011 will join Dodge County Hospital in Eastman from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. to provide free cardiovascular screenings for the hospital’s annual Heart Health Day.

Mayoral Proclamation to Commence Heartfest 2011

Mayor Robert Reichert will commence HeartFest 2011 on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with a proclamation at City Hall.

Mayor Reichert will speak about the importance of heart health as The Medical Center of Central Georgia begins its month-long education and discussion about cardiovascular disease, a Medical Center of Central Georgia news release says.

HeartFest 2011 coincides with American Heart Month, a national campaign by the American Heart Association.

Macon Police Department Launches Website

The Macon Police Department has launched a new website, a news release says.

The website, www.maconpolice.us, is launched but also still under construction.

Bibb County March for Babies Kick

On Friday, January 14, 2011 at Central Georgia Technical College, individuals, teams and businesses throughout Bibb County will join together at the March for Babies kickoff lunch to receive supplies and share ideas for a successful March for Babies campaign.

March for Babies is the annual fundraising event to support the March of Dimes work of helping moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives.

The Bibb County March for Babies will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Ocmulgee National Monument- 1207 Emery Highway Macon, GA. Registration is at 8am and Walk starts at 9:30 a.m a news release says.

Mammo Marathon 2011

The Central Georgia Breast Care Center and Central Georgia Diagnostics at The Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) have teamed up to provide a convenient, no appointment necessary event for women in central Georgia.

That's according to an MCCG news release.

Thursday, Jan. 13 is the inaugural day for Mammo Marathon 2011, which provides women with state-of-the-art mammography.

This event takes place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Central Georgia Breast Care Center and Central Georgia Diagnostics.

Patrons are reminded to bring their doctor’s referral with them to the mammogram screenings. Refreshments, a door prize drawing at each location, and financial assistance are also part of the event.

MCCG will host these Mammo Marathon days on the 13th business day of each of these months: April, May, June, July, September, October and December.   

Central Georgia Breast Care Center is located at 1014 Forsyth St.

Adult Basketball Registration

Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation has extended its adult basketball registration until Jan. 14.

The league is available for men 18 years and older.

Play begins in late January.

Businesses, individuals and community teams are invited to register.
