'Need for Speed' Set To Begin Filming in Macon | News
After the success of '42' at the box office, Hollywood is returning to Macon to film scenes for the new 'Need for Speed' film, a movie adaptation of the popular video game.
The movie stars Michael Keaton from the Batman movies, Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad, as well as rapper Kid Cudi.
Terrell Sandefur of the Macon Film Commission says many of the same people who worked on '42' are also working on 'Need for Speed,' which is being produced by Dreamworks, and says its part of the reason they chose Macon again.
"They already knew what to expect," Sandefur says. "They knew what Macon had to offer."
One of the locations will be the off-ramp at the Hardeman Ave. exit on I-75 South and the Fountain Car Wash. Employees there say directors had been scouting there for a high speed chase scene.
"For the past couple months, there's been a good bit of folks up here just checking the place out and everything getting all the stuff ready," says Austin Nunnemaker.
Other spots will include Magnolia Street and 3rd Street downtown, and will close some streets for most of the week. You can see the closings here.
