River Edge Unveils New Housing Developments | News
River Edge Behavioral Health Center will unveil two new housing developments in the Fort Hill neighborhood on Wednesday, August 28th.
The event will take place in the second neighborhood located at 637 Bowman St. in Macon.
The second and third neighborhood are built around the first development complex, and caps a three-year project that created 38 new units of affordable housing.
The second neighborhood is a 10-unit complex of affordable housing for individuals who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness and who have special needs. The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded a $1.1 million grant to build the homes.
The third neighborhood is also a 10-unit complex, but is a mixed income development. The complex was built with a $1.5 million program fund that is made available to the City of Macon.
River Edge and the City of Macon partnered together in efforts to redevelop and transform the Fort Hill area.
"By working closely with partners like River Edge and focusing on making improvements block to block and neighborhood to neighborhood, we are having a significant and sustainable impact on our entire community," says Macon Mayor Robert Reichert.
