GBI Now Aiding David Lucas Investigation | News
The GBI says they've already started the investigation into a complaint against State Senator David Lucas. That's according to Rodney Wall of the GBI's Perry office.
Bibb County Sheriff David Davis asked the GBI to assist them in investigating whether State Senator David Lucas choked a teenager during an argument. Rodney Wall of the GBI says they have two agents on the case to assist Bibb deputies.
Wall says part of that investigation will include re-interviewing witness to the incident.
The case stems from an argument at a Bibb County political event between two candidates' families. David Lucas, a Macon Democrat, denies allegations that he choked a teenager during the argument.
Friday morning, he told 13WMAZ's Randall Savage, "Everybody that knows me knows I don't go around picking on a 14-year-old."
The Bibb County sheriff's department says they're investigating a simple-battery complaint against the Macon Democrat. An incident report says Lucas is accused of choking Chase King after a campaign event Wednesday night for his wife, Elaine Lucas.
Terry Tripp and Elaine Lucas are running for the District 3 seat in the new Bibb County commission.
The argument broke out between members of the Tripp and Lucas families.
David Lucas said he stepped in when his son, Lenny argued with one of Tripp's grandsons.
He denies hitting or choking anyone. He said he's upset that he was trying to be a peacemaker but is being portrayed as a villain instead.
