Children's Museum Plans Scavenger Hunt Through Macon | News
The Georgia Children's Museum wants to test people's knowledge of downtown Macon and the city's history.
On October 5th, they will host a scavenger hunt through downtown, similar to the show 'The Amazing Race.'
"It's a way to experience Macon from a different perspective. These things that we know are here, that we pass every day, but to learn about the history," says museum director Mary Cay McCullough.
Teams will be divided into three age groups with different clues and challenges for each age bracket.
"Some of them are going to be very easy. Some of them, you're going to have to think a little bit. We've taken some maybe not so well-known trivia or stories about the places. The younger kids will have a little bit easier clues so that the kids can help figure out what they are," says McCullough.
The teams to reach the finish line first will receive prizes, like a weekend getaway at an amusement park.
Registration costs between $100 and $300 per team, depending on the age group.
McCullough says all of the money raised will help the museum build up some of its exhibits.
