Macon Partnership Makes Way for Business Incubator Program | News
Mercer University and NewTown Macon have teamed up to create an incubator program called the Bear's Garage.
The purpose of the program is to generate new ideas and bring new businesses to the downtown area of Macon.
Through the Bear's Garage, Mercer students; along with people from the community will bring in business plans and have them assessed and further developed by businesses that are in partnership with NewTown Macon.
Over 30 business partners ranging from marketing specialists to attorneys, have already agreed to volunteer their expertise to the program.
NewTown Macon will host the meetings of the Bear's Garage in their offices on Cherry Street in downtown Macon.
"NewTown Macon brings great resources to the Bear's Garage...but also we'll have a front row seat to these businesses that are being incubated and when they are ready to open up that storefront and they have a viable, successful business plan, then we can show them space in downtown Macon. It really is a win win for everybody," says Newtown Macon Director of Space, Kris Hattaway.
The first meeting of the Bear's Garage will be held Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. They will be discussing the criteria for people to become a part of the Bear's Garage program.
