Ministers Bless Pets, Owners with Prayer | News
While it's not common to take pets to church, a special ceremony at one in Macon allowed all family members, including furry ones, to attend.
Mulberry Street United Methodist held a blessing of the animals ceremony, Today.
Pets and their owners lined up outside of the church where ministers prayed for them.
Associate Pastor Ben Gosden says the event comes right after the Feast Day of Saint Francis... which is a Catholic tradition of churches blessing pets world wide.
"I think it's great. It's a wonderful celebration in the life of our church. This is one of the events that I have people asking about months from now, saying are we going to do this again," said Gosden.
"Nothing is really more precious to us...yes, our children and family, but our animals are apart of our family. We really wanted to bestow the gifts of God upon them," said Ken Gozur.
St. Francis Episcopal Church, in Macon, also had a blessing of the animals ceremony. They invited the K-9 unit of the Bibb Sheriff's office to attend.
