Tattnall Softball Prepares for Championship

The Lady Trojans are finally getting their shot.

Tattnall Academy is 35-4 and going to the GISA championship, for the first time in the school's history.

Coach Joey Hiller's team has come close, but fell short in the playoffs in recent years.

Senior leadership has brought Tattnall to the big series. Hiller is coaching just like it's any other matchup.

"You gotta throw strikes, you gotta play routine defense," said Hiller. "You gotta hit the strikes and take the balls at the plate and execute your offense."

Senior catcher, Jade Moncrief, is using the last few years as motivation.

"We always believe we're gonna go so far and we always come up short of our goal," said Moncrief. "So this year, we've made it farther than we've ever been, and it feels great."

Tattnall's series against Westfield begins at noon on Saturday, at Southern Pines Park in Dublin, Ga.
