Mercer Preps for Road Game Against Campbell

The Mercer football team is set to leave Friday morning for their weekend matchup against Campbell University.

The Bears  ran through an early morning practice Thursday.

This is an interesting matchup because Mercer ranks top in their conference in rushing yards. The Fighting Camels, based in Buies Creek, N.C., come in at No. 2.

Mercer's only loss this season came on the road against San Diego in a four day trip on the West Coast earlier this month.

But Head coach Bobby Lamb says this second trip has a different feel to it.  He says it's one day trip to travel to North Carolina and they will get home late Saturday night.

"So we're going on a normal business trip and the thing is about this trip is in order to win on the road you've got to take the mentality that we've got to go get it done on the road and play as well as we have played at home.

J.T. Palmer Same time you get a little nervous because you want to go and get that first road win," Lamb said.

According to Mercer athletics, Campbell gives up 192.1 yards per game on the ground.  Lamb thinks the one with the highest total of offensive yardage on the board will walk away with the win Saturday afternoon.
