Historic Macon Homes Get New Life | News
The three homes that moved from Mercer's campus to Oglethorpe Street two years ago will soon be up for grabs.
They are Queen Anne-style houses from the 19th century and are expected to sell for between $100,000 and $250,000.
Historic Macon Executive Director Josh Rogers said community partnerships, Mercer University, and Sierra Development made the move possible.
Mercer student Sasha LaGarde moved across the street just as construction was beginning and says he's impressed with the results.
"They look brand new. They look clean, and I know they're working hard on it," LaGarde said. "It's been kind of cool to see them build it. We're going to look into it for next year when we come back to finish school."
Rogers said he's excited about the prospect of people moving in to a property his company has spent so much time developing.
He says special attention was paid to preserving the original look of the home, but that it has all of the modern conveniences.
