Macon Prepares to 'Make A Difference' | News
For the past fifteen years, Amy Davidson has done her part for National "Make A Difference Day." This time, the Volunteer Macon Youth Director is preparing to help give the Amerson River Park Recreational area a facelift with the help of NewTown Macon and 13WMAZ.
Davidson said she is excited about adding "new picnic tables and some bird houses and things like that, and just have a nice little peaceful area by the river."
Make A Difference Day is the largest national day of community service and is more than 20 years old.
This year, the team will clean and expand a recreational area in Amerson River Park overlooking the Ocmulgee River.
It used to be the site of the Macon Water Authority's treatment facility.
The greater mission is to develop the area for recreational activities as part of the plan to improve the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.
The event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at 2600 Riverview Road.
