TV Movie Filming Gets Underway at Terminal Station

Filming for a TV movie got underway at Macon's Terminal Station this morning.

People on Seventh Street got to see a 1950s street scene, where characters, including actress Cicely Tyson, scurry to and from the bus.

A 1960s Greyhound bus was centerpiece of the scene at the historic rail depot.

The Lifetime movie 'The Trip to Bountiful' will film scenes on Monday and Tuesday, according to city spokesman Chris Floore.

Floore said the filming would not require street closings, but there may be some brief delays over the next few days while equipment is moved.

Published reports say "'The Trip to Bountiful" stars Cicely Tyson and  Vanessa Williams and is based on the Broadway play they starred in.

Rick Jones of the Macon-Bibb Transit Authority says the filmmakers rented out the station at the same rate as anyone else renting, at around a few thousand dollars.

He says the station is spreading by word of mouth among location scouts as a good place to film period movies like '42.'

The Lifetime movie is reportedly filming in the Atlanta area through Nov. 30.

Last year, the Terminal was also used for scenes in the Jackie Robinson film, "42," which was released this spring.
