Macon police officer resigns after statutory rape arrest

On Friday, Macon Police announced the resignation of precinct 4 officer Rory Qualls.

In a press release, spokeswoman Jami Gaudet said that Qualls resigned after being arrested for statutory rape involving a 15-year-old girl.

According the the release, Qualls met the girl on an internet dating site July of this year. The teen's mother reported the incident to the police on Thursday, November 7, 2013.

He has not been released yet from the Bibb LEC.
