Fireworks Safety For New Years Eve | News
New Year's Eve is approaching and the Macon-Bibb Fire Department want to make sure that everyone is safe when lighting up the sky.
The fire department gave a demonstration on the proper use of fireworks and how to dispose of them in the right way, which included the lighting of a few sparklers.
A few things the fire department would like for people to keep in mind when handling fireworks include, keeping a clear area when shooting them, make sure a safe distance is maintained, do not drink while shooting the fireworks and use protective eye-wear and gloves.
The proper way to dispose of the fireworks is to submerge them into a bucket of water to make there is no flame left on the end.
Fireworks that are bought out of state are considered illegal in Georgia.
Legal ones can be bought at stores such as Walmart, Kroger and other local stores.
