State supreme court to hear Macon cases

The state supreme court next week will hear a Macon man's appeal of his murder conviction from eight years ago.

Lawyers for Anthony Bonner are scheduled to argue Monday that his lawyer did not represent him effectively at his trial in 2005.

He was convicted of killing Terry Adams in Macon the year before.

According to the court, Bonner's lawyers argued that his trial attorney failed to challenge a questionable identification by a witness.

His attorney also did not object when a Macon police officer testified about Bonner's prior arrest.

Prosecutors argue that the evidence against him was overwhelming and those issues did not affect the verdict. Bonner is now serving a life term in a state prison for killing Adams.

On Tuesday the court will hear an entirely different type of case from Bibb County.

It's a contract dispute among two groups of anesthesiologists who did work for the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Both cases will be heard at the court in Atlanta.
