$20K mink coat shoplifted in downtown Macon

A full-length mahogany fur mink coat was stolen from a downtown Macon store.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office report, the $20,997 coat was taken from Barnes Furs on Cherry Street around closing time Monday.

The owner noted that the full-length coat rack "had been shuffled and disturbed" and told the responding deputy he had noticed two women and a man come in together and stand around that specific rack.

He didn't notice the coat was missing until Thursday, while doing inventory, the incident report states.

The surveillance camera allegedly shows the man from the party of three taking the coat. Store owner Ben Griffith told police the suspects left in a black Mercedes sedan and describes the male suspect between 55-70 years old, and about 5'8-6'2 weighing about 150-180 pounds.
