Water leak leaves 'wintry mix' at Ronald McDonald House | News
An overnight water leak left a frosty glaze outside Macon's Ronald McDonald House Tuesday morning.
Bonnie Hopkins, director of the house at Orange and Forsyth streets, says the leak was probably caused by a busted rubber hose in their fire system. The hose apparently was not designed to stand up to Macon's frigid temperatures. 13WMAZ's David Ernst says the overnight low was around 11 degrees.
Water spewing from an outside valve at the home left an icy glaze on the lawn, plants, sidewalks and trees outside the home.
Hopkins said their landscaping crew noticed the leak around 6 a.m. and quickly plugged it. She's not sure how long the water was leaking or how many gallons were lost.
Plumbers were at work on the break Tuesday morning. Hopkins could not say what repairs will cost.
