Gregg Allman has accomplished a lot in his career that spans half a century - and counting. He's performed to sold out crowds, received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, overcome health problems and recently authored a book, "My Cross to Bear."
Now Allman finds himself as the subject of a movie.
Named for one of the Allman Brother's hits, "Midnight Rider," production of the film starts next month in Savannah, Ga., according to a Variety magazine article.
Actor William Hurt has been selected to star as the modern-day Allman in the movie, Variety reports.
All American reject lead singer-songwriter Tyson Ritter stars as a young Gregg Allman while Wyatt Russell will star as his brother, Duane.
Hurt, an Oscar-winning actor, has among his many film credits, "A.I. Artificial Intelligence," "The Incredible Hulk" and more recently "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby."
