C-SPAN explores historic Macon | News
Macon's literary and musical history will take center stage in a series of C-SPAN stories.
The network chose to stop in central Georgia as part of its 2014 Cities Tour. This week, crews will stop at various places in Macon to learn and capture pieces of the city's history.
"As far as Macon goes, there's so much awesome history here, especially with music history. We're here at The Big House Allman Brothers Museum, and we're learning about the history of southern rock, the history of soul music, and so it really is a hard process to whittle down what all we cover," says C-SPAN crew member Ashley Hill.
So far, they've filmed pieces at The Hay House and The Allman Brothers Museum. The rest of their locations will be revealed in a kickoff event at The Hay House Tuesday afternoon.
"It's a good way for us to show off our southern charm, our uniqueness, and it's just a really neat place for us to be right now," says Lisa Mclendon, Executive Director of The Big House Museum.
C-SPAN will air this week's footage during its Macon-themed weekend February 15th and 16th.
