Demolition causes trash fire | News
Tuesday morning, Macon Fire Lieutenant Jimmy Hollis said demolition crews were in the process of tearing down what used to be the Cagle's poultry processing plant.
Hollis says a small trash fire occurred after some wood, and other materials were torched behind the building.
Hollis says the fire happened several feet from the building.
He says no one was injured.
"We didn't have any problems with it. It was away from the structure so we didn't have to worry about the structure. The biggest problem was getting over this pile of rubble right here. Once we got over it we were good to go," said Hollis.
Hollis says the building has been vacant since Cagle's closed a couple of years ago.
