Mercer students launch database for Macon art pieces | News
Art, education and life-long learning is one of the missions of the Macon Art Alliance.
The organization has some new faces: students, whose focus is on what the alliance has to teach and what Macon can learn.
A philosophy class at Mercer recently completed its first service project targeting the study of public art, murals, statues, and paintings.
The students launched an online database with information from the Macon Art Alliance about existing public art in town.
They also added 360 degree aspect videos to showcase the pieces and describe their condition.
The goal of the project was to not only launch the website, but also to facilitate a discussion about the role of public art.
A basic online database already existed, but had not been updated since 1993.
The new, updated model can be found at Ovations365.com.
