Three men charged in Macon purse snatching | News
The Bibb County sheriff's office say three men face charges after a woman's purse was snatched in downtown Macon.
In a news release, they say it happened outside The Rookery on Cherry Street around 7 p.m. Sunday.
A woman and her husband said two men grabbed the purse and jumped into a white Buick Roadmaster.
The news release says the victim's husband later said the car was on Forsyth Road and gave a police a tag number.
When deputies stopped the car at Charter Road and Rivoli Drive, the driver began fighting with officers and ran off.
The news release says he was caught a short time later in woods off Rivoli Drive.
The sheriff's department says Fred James Harris, age 22, of Macon, was charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer and possession of marijuana.
Also charged were his two passengers: Shamond Rayson Rozier, age 21, charged with robbery and violation of probation and 21 year old Terrance Lamont James, charged with robbery.
