Three suspected in theft investigation | News
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office arrested two people and are looking for a third suspected in stealing and forging checks taken from residential mailboxes in west Bibb.
Bobby Leon Parrish, 23, was arrested Feb. 6 and Brandi Danielle Lamere, 29, was arrested Feb. 12.
The third person investigators have arrest warrants for is Traci Lynne Mullis, 38, of Macon.
Parrish was charged with forgery and Lamere's charges include five counts of forgery and drug possession, according to a sheriff's office news release.
At the end of January, authorities said Parrish cashed a stolen $264 check which was taken from someone who lived on Middlesex Drive. The resident made the check out to a cable company and placed it in the box as outgoing mail, the news release states.
The payable portion of the check was changed and replaced with Parrish's name, according to the news release. He was released from the Bibb jail on a $590 bond the day he was arrested, but he was booked again Feb. 17 for charges on a separate case. He's now being held at the jail on a $11,200 bond.
Three stolen checks were made out to Lamere and a fourth check was used to make a purchase at a shoe store, the news release states. A fifth check was made payable to a person who had their identity stolen. The forged checks totaled $3,836. Authorities said the box of checks was stolen from a mailbox in the Aspen Drive area.
When Lamere was arrested, deputies found additional stolen checks and a Social Security card. She's being held at the jail on a $5,075 bond.
The Bibb Sheriff's Office cautions the public to use their local post office when mailing checks or other materials that may contain sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
