Animal lovers gather for AC Pup's birthday | News
Many pets don't have birthday parties thrown, and they certainly don't invite hundreds of people to it.
For the mascot of Central Georgia C.A.R.E.S., things are different.
The organization threw a festival in honor of AC Pup's 5th birthday, Saturday.
The party took place at the Georgia Industrial Children's Home.
Chairperson Patti Jones says the purpose of the celebration was to also recognize their mission, which is to help animals and people.
There were several vendors on hand, including animal rescue groups who were looking for people to adopt pets.
"Companion animals and humans just go together, and it enriches all of our lives," said Jones.
"They become a part of the family. They're just like your children almost. I really believe that it's a worthy thing to do and have, whether it be cats or dogs," Richard Dean added.
Jones says they're partnering with Moe's Southwest Grill, on Vineville Avenue, for their next fundraiser.
During the month of April, the restaurant will donate 100% of their proceeds to the organization.
