Bibb County's CTAE Program hosts dress sale | News
A Bibb County School Program is hosting a dress sale.
Vonnie Angelo, a coordinator for the program, said, "We call it 'Cinderella's Wish List' and it's a dress drive that we have where we're trying to raise money for a scholarship for our Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education, which is the CTAE program."
This is the sale's second year, and while it went well the first time, the program wants it to be even better this year.
"We did sell 20 to 25 dresses of the ones that we collected and they were generously donated by people in the community," Angelo said, "We were successful, but we'd like for it to get a lot bigger."
She says last year, girls who came to the sale left with unexpected but satisfying buys.
"Some of the dresses we weren't so sure about. And then the girls came in and we had places in the back and they could try them on. And they'd come out in the dresses, and they were just adorable."
She says the sale will help fund the "CTAE Student of the Year Scholarship Fund."
100 percent of the profits will go to the scholarship.
The winner and runners-up will be awarded later on this month at a banquet at Southwest High.
Angelo said, "It's just so nice to see the students honored for their hard work, and it just proves to them that if they work at it and they want it bad enough, good things come from that so it's just a wonderful night."
She says it's not too late to donate and girls looking for dresses for any special occasion are welcome.
"If you're looking for a prom dress or even for the military ball, we'd love to have you come and see what we'd have to offer."
