Bibb County asks for $500k for court costs
News

Chief Superior Court Judge Tilman Self wants $500,000 to cover some out-of-county court costs.

County spokesman Chris Floore says officials shifted the money into the Superior Court budget and that the matter will come before the commission for approval at next week's meeting.

Floore says the judge didn't say how the money would be used, but Commissioner Scotty Shepherd says it's believed it'll help cover the costs of the Stephen McDaniel murder trial.

McDaniel faces a murder charge in connection with the killing and dismemberment of fellow Mercer University Law School graduate Lauren Giddings.

The trial is scheduled to begin April 20.
