Dogs show speed, fetching skills at Cherry Blossom | News
One competition at the Cherry Blossom Festival involved pets and their owners.
The annual Dixie Disc Dog Championship included tossing, fetching, and routines to music.
The disc competition challenged dogs to catch a frisbee, and return it to their owners several times.
Pets and owners had less than two minutes to rack up points.
One of the judges say the concept of keeping dogs healthy through exercise can go a long way, even after the competition ends.
"If you have a dog that's very excited and maybe not behaving in the house, the best thing you can do is give them a job," Marni Brown explained.
"A lot of these you see here are border collies or some type of working dog, but we do have a couple of rescues also so they can have fun and play," said Dean Werts.
The Dog and Disc Club will host demonstrations on how to keep dogs active. They'll be at Central City Park from 11:30 until 4 p.m. on Sunday.
