Man arrested in West Macon killing | News
A man was charged Thursday with murdering 26-year-old Sanchez Robinson outside a West Macon apartment complex.
24-year-old Dequantez Shuntae Harris was arrested Thursday afternoon, according to Lt. Sean DeFoe of the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
Harris is charged with malice murder, possession of a firearm and armed robbery. He's being held without bond in the Bibb County jail.
Robinson was found shot in the driver's seat of his Dodge Charger at the Chambers Pointe apartment complex on Chambers Road just before midnight Wednesday.
Bibb County coroner Leon Jones pronounced him dead.
An incident report says a witness saw a person exit the driver's side rear door and run from the scene towards Walmart on Harrison Road.
Robinson's mother, Regina Smith, tells 13WMAZ the shooting was "senseless."
"My youngest son called me and said, 'Chez over here at Chambers Cove dead.' I just dropped the phone screaming," she said. "All the way over there, I was praying that somebody else had his car, but it was him."
Robinson was due to be a father in August, his girlfriend, Mercedes Thomas told 13WMAZ.
"This was going to be our first baby, so we were really excited. He would always say he was so excited to see our son. He swore it was a boy, even though we don't know yet," Thomas said.
"He didn't deserve that. Whoever did that to somebody's lover, to somebody's brother, to somebody's son broke a lot of hearts."
One life to soon begin, but another life they say was taken far too soon.
