Bibb Co. still working to address data breach | News
Macon-Bibb County officials said Tuesday that they have fixed a website security breach that exposed potentially thousands of people's personal information, including Social Security numbers, drivers licenses, and birth certificates.
The security breach appears to be contained to people who have applied for jobs with the government going back about four years, according to a statement from Chris Floore, assistant to the county manager.
"There will need to be a thorough and far-reaching communication plan to notify the people potentially impacted, both those that were hired and those not," Floore's statement says.
Floore said the county has submitted a request to Google to have the information removed from the search engine and other search engines.
The county, per state law, has to send letters to people whose information was exposed, including all county employees, Floore said.
