A multi-car accident snarled traffic at the Interstate 75 and 16 interchange in Macon Thursday morning.
The wreck happened around 9 a.m. on I-75 south, between the Pierce Avenue exit and the split.
Lt. Sean DeFoe said it happened when traffic backed up around 300 yards north of the split and one vehicle struck two others from behind, causing a chain reaction.
Three people in one of the vehicles were taken to a local hospital, and they were in "very stable" condition later Thursday morning.
The accident scene was cleared by 11 a.m.
DeFoe said no one was charged.
