"Feed the Hungry" event serves hundreds in Macon | News
Eight churches joined together to help bring a little joy to those in need on Easter weekend. The Unity Church Fellowship, a group of eight churches in Macon came together Saturday to "Feed the Hungry."
Anyone in need received a warm meal, and a chance to learn the history and meaning of Easter.
"It's important for the community to know that the church is in place for more than just a place to worship but somewhere they can come and get assistance, said Minister Carlton Johnson of Macedonia Church.
Assistant Coordinator, Barbara Parker, said she enjoys volunteering for the event. "I along with all of the other volunteers from the eight community churches, we just have a servant's heart. It's our gift to those because we just love people, says Parker.
Nearly 250 people in the community came out to Ebenezer Baptist church for Saturday's event.
