Macon man arrested after Checkers drive thru robbery

A Macon man was arrested after a robbery at Checkers fast food restaurant on Pio Nono Avenue at 4:45 a.m. Friday.

The suspect was standing outside and opened the drive thru window and took money from the cash register, according to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office news release. The store's manager attempted to run after the man, but the robber got away.

Authorities were given a description of the man and James Lee Crawford Sr. was arrested a short time later in the area of Adams Street near Ell Street near the restaurant after he was ID'd by the Checkers manager.

He was booked into the Bibb County jail charged with robbery.
