An armed robber ambushed employees Wednesday morning at Aaron's Sales and Lease store, 4696 Log Cabin Drive, Macon.

Workers arrived at the electronics retailer at about 9 a.m. when an armed gunman, who was hiding in the store, jumped out at them, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

The gunman entered the business through a hole he made in the wall earlier in the day, the news release states.

After taking money from the store and cell phones and car keys from the employees, the robber ran back out through the hole he made. Once he exited the store, he fired one blast from his gun into the air and drove off in one of the employee's cars.

The vehicle he took was a green 1999 Mercury Mountaineer with a retired veteran's Georgia tag XF151G.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
