Celebrating Central Georgia moms

To kick off the Mother's Day celebration, The Frank Johnson Community Center hosted its second annual Mother's Day Social. The women were entertained with music, food and prizes.

Organizer Clarence Thomas said it's important to honor mothers. "It's a very special day because moms are special. And our theme of course is centering around the power of a mothers love. And we are just grateful and glad that women responded," said Thomas.

That includes women like mother- daughter duo Cynthia Goolsby and Fannie Kemp. Goolsby said her mother, Fannie, is very special to her.

"There are so many things that I could say that makes her special to me, but mainly is that she's there for me. I can call her, you know, and she's there. And she's about the best cook in the world too," said Goolsby.
