News

A man turned himself into the Bibb County Sheriff's Office Sunday night.

Montez Sands is accused of shooting another man, then throwing his own child out of the car and speeding off, according to a release.

He's charged with aggravated assault.

It started Sunday afternoon in Bibb County at Green Meadows apartments on Log Cabin Drive, according to a release.

Deputies say Rodney Roquemore and Treavon Girtman went to visit Roquemore's girlfriend, Shundrea Jordon, who lives at that complex.

Deputies say Jordon's ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old Montez Sands was bringing their daughter over to the house when a fight broke out and Sands started shooting.

Girtman was hit in both legs, above the knees, and Sands allegedly took off in a 1998 orange and purple Cadillac, dumping his daughter out of the car in the process, deputies say.

Investigators determined there was no child cruelty in the case.
