Gottwals books moving from Northside Dr. to Riverside Dr. | News
Book lovers in North Macon may be very happy soon.
The Macon Gottwals book store is moving from Northside Drive to a larger building on Riverside Drive.
"This new Riverside location, it's bigger. It's certainly a sign that we've made an impact in this community," Shane Gottwals, the CEO of the chain said. "Everybody loves us, everybody embraces us," says Gottwals.
The first Gottwals store opened in Warner Robins in 2007. Since then, the used-bookstore has opened stores in four states under the Walls of Books Franchise. The latest will be in Louisiana.
"A bookstore is a cultural center. It shows that we're educated people. It shows that we care about the arts. It shows that we care about the sciences," Gottwals said.
Gottwals says the new location has good interstate exposure and increased drive-by traffic.
He also says central Georgians are the reason why the chain has thrived, while other bookstore sales drop.
"Book stores aren't making it like they used to and to see our store do so well and thrive, we just thank Macon, we thank the community," Gottwals said. "Just all these areas that have said 'Yes, we love Gottwals books' and we're gonna try our hardest to make it a better and better experience," says Gottwals.
The Riverside Drive location will open for business this Saturday.
