Macon drummer featured in Eastwood film "Jersey Boys" | News
Macon resident and Grammy-nominated percussionist Steve Moretti is about to debut his next big role.
He's is featured in Clint Eastwood's upcoming film, "Jersey Boys," about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Based on the Broadway musical, the film premieres Friday.
Moretti can be seen playing drums and counting down in a couple of scenes.
When asked about his upcoming movie role and acclaim, Moretti told 13WMAZ Tuesday, "It's no big deal. I just bang on things."
He has an extensive recording career playing on more than 30 nationally released recordings. Some of the artists he's performed with includes Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Jo Dee Messina, Arturo Sandoval, Toni Tennille, Lionel Hampton, The Coasters, The Pointer Sisters and The Temptations.
He also toured with the legendary Rosemary Clooney for six years.
Moretti is co-founder of Macon Pops, a new orchestra that features renowned artists and music events.
Macon Pops released its schedule Tuesday.
Macon Pops' second season will kick-off Sept. 6 with "Dancing Through the Decades, Part II" at the Macon City Auditorium and will feature popular music from each decade from the 40's until now, including one of the songs Moretti performs in "Jersey Boys."
