Houston, Bibb eighth grades show gains on CRCT | News
Eighth graders in Houston and Bibb County both showed gains in this year's CRCT results.
In both districts, the students showed gains over last year in all five categories: reading, English, math, science and social studies.
In reading, for example, 93 percent of Bibb's eighth graders meet or exceed the state standards. That's up a point from last year.
In Houston, just over 98 percent of the kids made or beat the standard. That's up two tenths of a point.
Statewide, 97 percent of the students made the grade.
In all five areas, more Houston eighth graders met or exceeded the standard than the state average. Bibb eighth-graders scored below the state in all five areas.
The statewide Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests tests are aimed at measuring students' progress in key subjects. The test is given to students in grades 3-8.
Next year, the CRCT will be replaced by a new test, the Georgia Milestones.
