Clayton Sutton's appeal set for July 14
News

Former Bibb County deputy Clayton Sutton gets to appeal his firing on July 14.

That's according to county personnel director Ben Hubbard.

Sheriff David Davis fired Sutton last month, saying he'd disobeyed orders to avoid any contact with the public.

The GBI is still investigating why Sutton allegedly fired shots in a foot chase through a Macon neighborhood.

A year and a half ago, Sutton also shot and killed Sammy "Junebug" Davis Jr. outside a Macon Kroger. But authorities ruled that the shooting was justified.

Hubbard said attorney Joel Howe will act as hearing officer for the July 14 hearing, which takes place at the Macon-Bibb government annex.
