Road closings for Bragg Jam, Corridor Project | News
Second Street will be closing for Bragg Jam and revitalization work this weekend.
According to a release, Second Street from Cherry to Poplar Street closes around 4 p.m. Saturday and reopens when the Second Street Corridor Project finishes.
The Corridor Project is a revitalization, SPLOST-funded project to improve areas from East Macon through downtown Macon.
Full details on the road closure:
The block of Second Street from Cherry to Poplar Streets will close Saturday, July 26 at about 4:00 p.m. for the annual Bragg Jam Festival and will reopen as the project is completed. Two lanes of Second Street are expected to reopen in 10-12 weeks, with the complete street reopening in three to four months. The parking deck exit from the SunTrust Building will remain open, and crews will post signs during construction on which way to turn to exit safely. The closure is only for vehicle traffic. People will still be able to walk along the sidewalks, and businesses along that block will remain open.
Cherry Street and a portion of Third Street will also close Saturday, July 26 for Bragg Jam. This includes Cherry Street Plaza closing that morning, and beginning at 4:00 p.m., the blocks on Cherry from Second Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and the block of Third Street from Mulberry to Cherry Streets will close. Cherry and Third Streets will reopen once the streets have been cleaned.
