Tree falls and injures one man at Wesleyan Market

Saturday morning, at the Wesleyan Market at Wesleyan College in Macon, a large tree limb fell near the market grounds and the parking lot, injuring one man.

The Bibb Sheriff's office said a 63-year-old male transported to the Medical Center. The extent of his injuries are currently unknown.

Chris Brown, a witness about 50 feet from where the limb fell, said that he and five others ran immediately over to fallen limb to see if anyone had been trapped by the debris. Brown said the larger part of the limb was caught by two trucks but a smaller branch hit the injured man and knocked him down.

Brown called 911, and he said two others assisted the 63-year-old until the ambulance arrived. Brown and two other men helped clear the branches with pruning shears so that EMTs could reach the injured man with the gurney.

Brown said that the crowds had not really started yet and that no one was under the canopies that were damaged.
