Woman shot at her own birthday party | News
A woman was shot in the leg at her own birthday party according to the Bibb County Sheriff's office. Friends rushed Diamond Williams to the Medical Center.
Police say it happened at the intersection of Holt Avenue and Lawton Avenue.
"It was scary. It was scary to be just that close. To be that close to everything that was going on" said Angela Brown, who said she stood less than a hundred feet away from the shooting.
Brown and a few friends were celebrating Williams' birthday at a house on Lawton Avenue. Brown says there were two cars circling the neighborhood.
Williams along with some friends walked up the hill to ask those in the cars what they wanted. That's when Brown says a man in one of the cars began shooting aimlessly. She says she ran towards the house, but had to turn around after Williams was hit.
"That's the biggest thing. That girl just turned twenty years old. Like she's twenty. She's got a son. Y'all shot this girl at her birthday party. Y'all ruined one of the best days of her life over some bull junk," said Brown.
Friends helped carry Williams into the car and she was transported to the hospital. Brown says she doesn't know why and who did this. One thing she is certain of is the power of Karma.
"Before you take up a gun and decide to want to take a life, ask yourself how long do I want to live," said Brown.
Brown says another woman was grazed by a bullet and sent to the hospital. Williams is in stable condition.
