Actress Pam Grier helps rescue pups in Macon | News
Six abandoned puppies got some help from a big star this weekend.
Through her friend Valerie Young, long-time actress Pam Grier learned of some abandoned puppies in Macon. The six pups were left behind the Waffle House on Gray Highway.
News traveled through a Facebook post from Cherie Bland before reaching Grier.
Grier personally contacted the group Pilots N Paws to rescue the dogs. Sunday afternoon, they were airlifted to a temporary rescue in Ware County. She said there is a need for these dogs. They provide companionship to soldiers returning from deployment.
In an interview, Grier said, "There is a waitlist for service dogs and cats, so people are going out of their way to shelter and rescue as many animals as possible.."
"Animals saved me, so my paying it forward is about saving animals who saved me," says Grier
The puppies were saved from the shelter August 8th and will be flown to Delaware next week.
