Armed shopper shoots at suspected robbers, two arrested | News
Bibb County deputies were called out to a reported robbery and shooting at a west Bibb County shopping center Thursday.
It happened just after 4:35 p.m. at the Eisenhower Crossing Shopping Center on Presidential Parkway.
Lt. Randy Gonzales says a business was robbed and shots were fired.
Officials tell 13WMAZ the Game Stop video game store in the shopping center was being robbed when an armed person saw the robbery in progress and got involved. The armed person fired shots at the robbers.
Javon Britton of Sacramento, California, is currently in custody charged with armed robbery.
Maryann Davis, the passenger in Britton's car, also from Sacramento was released from the hospital and is currently in custody and will be charged with armed robbery.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating whether the robbery at Gamestop could be connected to another one at Marshalls Wednesday.
David Wilson of Yatesville in Upson County was shopping next door at Radio Shack during the robbery.
He tells 13WMAZ that a man and woman were robbing the game store. Wilson said one had a rifle and the other, a pistol. The two took money from the register and ran off.
Wilson said a "Good Samaritan" was inside of the store when it was being robbed. As the robbers fled the store, the man followed them and fired shots.
The man and woman drove over a traffic island and blew out their tires. They drove the car as far as Ashley Furniture, where they stopped, got out and ran into the store.
The sheriff's department arrived with the SWAT team and the couple was arrested.
