The new eatery is located at 120 Tom Hill Sr. Blvd. near Chick-fil-A. The restaurant features a 320 square foot patio with seating for 22. The entire restaurant seats about 89.

Chipotle operates more than 1,500 restaurants with several in the Atlanta area.

"Normally we've got to drive all the way to Atlanta to get some of this food, now that they're opening here, Macon just got a little bit better now," said Germel Lewis, a customer.

"I think job growth in this area is very important. A lot of jobs and industry have left Macon so its wonderful that new things are coming into the area," said Jessica Lewis.

Macon Economic Development Commission Senior Vice President Pat Topping hopes the more business comes to town, the more people will want to relocate here.

"Restaurants do a lot of things, they generate sales tax, which is good," said Topping.

This is the chain's first central Georgia location. Brothers Armando and Alexus Ibarra made sure to be first in line at 8 a.m.

Chipotle offers signature menu items including burritos, tacos, burrito bowls (burritos minus the tortilla) and salads. Guests can choose from meats including carnitas (pork), steak, barbacoa or chicken, and vegetarian options like Chipotle's newest menu addition, sofritas (organic, non-GMO tofu braised with chipotle chilis, roasted poblano peppers and a blend of aromatic spices) and grilled vegetables, black and pinto beans, and homemade guacamole -- all made fresh several times daily.
