Bibb coroner: man's body discovered in Ocmulgee River
News

An unidentified body was discovered in the Ocmulgee River around 9 a.m. by kayakers, according to Macon-Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Lieutenant Sean DeFoe, of the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, says the man's body was found about 300 feet south of the Second Street Bridge. DeFoe says a boat crew with the fire department pulled the man out of the water around 10:30 a.m.

Jones said it looks to be a black male who was wearing a black and gold bracelet that says "Mary Person Prom 2015."

According to Jones, the body has been brought to the medical examiner's office, and an autopsy has been scheduled for next week in an effort to identify the man and determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information regarding this case should call the sheriff's office at 478-751-7500.
