Many 'Sleep-Out' in Macon park for homeless
News

Nearly 100 people signed up to sleep out at Central City Park Thursday night, and pitching a tent wasn't cheap. Each paid $1,000.

The money is for Daybreak, an organization that takes care of Macon's homeless by providing meals, showers, and basic medical care.

"Let's try to help those who are less fortunate than us," said Daybreak volunteer Jeff Battcher.

He says about 100 homeless men and women come through their doors daily.

The cold temperatures didn't keep people away.

"We have a tent, and there's plenty of love that's out here, and just knowing that somebody has to be here doing this, that alone keeps you warm," said April Blash.

75 people showed up to the Sleep-out and raised $75,000 for the organization.
