Cavalier Opts to Pitch for Georgia College

A Mount de Sales Cavalier is set to continue his career close to home.

Stewart Rich inked a deal Wednesday to play baseball for Georgia College in Milledgeville.

"Baseball means a lot to me," said Stewart Rich. "And I am going to play as long as I can and just try to get to the highest level I can."

His coach, Marc Lipson said Stewart is a physical player with many talented gifts that he displays on the field and in the classroom.  Lipson says Stewart had a 2.57 ERA last season.  He also garnered All-Region honors in his sophomore and junior seasons.

"This is a very big deal," said Marc Lipson. "It's very difficult for kids to be recognized by colleges these days and to secure some kind of financial assistance to play the sport they love. "

Rich said he is just happy that the recruiting process has ended.

"Recruiting is just tough, a lot of contacts, a lot of colleges talking to you. You just got to pick out one that fits the best," Rich said. "I hope I can go right to the top and show them what I got."
